Hola chicas! So here is the first part of my CoverGirl makeup review. I am launching the series off with the CoverGirl Blast Flipsticks Blendable Lip Duos. I was really excited to try these out because lately I’ve been focusing more on eye makeup and keeping the lips simple. Well, it’s time to flip that trend around! And boy…did I!
These colors are lovely! They are bright but subtle, bold but sassy and incredibly rich n’ creamy! I really like them! It’s an alternate to heavy lipsticks that end up all on your teeth. They feel as light as chapstick would, making it easy to reapply without the clumps.
For the last few days I have tried a different color or color combination each day. Here are some swatches of a few of the color combinations, starting off with “Whisper”, which is what I was wearing in my video (swatch to the right):
This one is “Intense”
This one is “Snap”
This one is “Flashy”
This one is “Minx”
This one is “Tease”
This one is “Stunner” (Had a bit of an issue with the consistency of this one as you can tell in the first 2 swatches)
I recorded a video for this review but I was pretty unprepared. There is some information on it but this blog post will detail more for you. Here are the 10 categories I will describe for you as far as the CoverGirl Blast Flipstick Blendable Lip Duos go.
-Does it catch your attention?
-How’s its appearance?
-What are people saying about it?
-How’s the price?
-Like how they feel?
-Taste the taste?
-How is the color variety?
-Will they join your BIG happy makeup case?
-Would you buy again?
So without further ado, let’s get started!
1. Does it catch your attention?
Yes, it definitely does. Having a person such as Sofia Vergara in all the commercials for this line was definitely a great marketing stunt. She’s loud, exiting and beautiful…just like all of us Latinas are! Haha! I think it was about time for CoverGirl to launch a line of bright and pretty Spring/Summer colors that focused on the lips and not so much the eyes. I think this was a great move so it definitely caught my attention!
2. How’s its appearance?
I’m like a moth to the flame when it comes to foils and shiny containers. Yes, this hit the spot! The lipstick tubes are foiled with silver and either reds, yellows, browns, corals, violets or pinks. I think they are a beautiful alternative to the typical black tube with a clear cover. But at the same time they are mature enough for the more subtle generation. This was the perfect balance to both.
3. What are people saying about it?
I read a few other reviews online and people seem to love these duos. I don’t blame them. They are fantastic! Many people mention how convenient it is to have two lipsticks in the same tube, which enables you to create various looks with. Overall, people seem to be praising these duos.
4. How’s the price?
Depending on where you live, you can find them anywhere between $6.00-$8.00, which is really not bad considering you are getting 2 lipsticks which you can flip, swirl and create different looks with. I think that price is pretty good. Of course, it adds up if you want to buy 2 or more, but the possibilities are endless with the color combinations. To me the price is definitely worth it.
5. Like how they feel?
Oooh definitely! They are soft, creamy and do not weigh your lips down. I honestly prefer matte lipsticks but matte lipsticks can weigh your lips down so much and feel very heavy. CoverGirl Blast Flipstick Blendable Lip Duos are a breath of fresh air for your lips. I reapplied the colors throughout the day like chapstick and never got a nasty “lipstick on top of lipstick” feeling. This is hard to achieve!
6. Taste the taste?
Taste no taste which is a good thing! I don’t like lipsticks with weird tastes on them. Not even the ones that are purposely put on there like cherry, grape or whatever. These duos have no taste so they don’t interfere with your taste buds while you are attempting to eat something! Hahaha! I’ve been wearing them for the past couple of weeks and have had no strange tastes with them…you know, whale fat taste? Haha!
7. How is the color variety?
I think the color variety is amazing! You have nudes, corals, golds, pinks, reds, violets and browns, not to mention everything in between. You can pretty much create any color you want with these combinations. I am in love and I’m excited to try more color combinations!
8. Any cons?
The only con that I can think of is that one of them (the one called “Stunner”) felt very chalky and almost separated when I put it on. It was still creamy but it looked as if the color did not mix well with the balm, making it look uneven.
Aside from that I was also concerned about the fact that the tube of lipstick is so thin and fragile. If you press it a little too hard against your lips it might break at the root. That’s my biggest pet peeve: broken lipstick. These tubes are about half thinner than regular size lipsticks. So buyer beware as far as the force you apply it with.
9. Will they join your BIG happy makeup case?
Welcome to the family children! These are definitely joining the makeup clan I have going on! There’s not much space left in it but I will make room for them! Definitely worth it because of the color variety, the feel and the convenience!
10. Would you buy again?
Well, I have every color! Haha! If I run out of my favorites I would definitely buy again. Hopefully this is not a phase product that will get discontinued anytime soon.
Well, there you have it ladies. If you haven’t already done so, run to the store and grab a tube of CoverGirl Blast Flipsticks Blendable Lip Duos and try it out for yourselves. It is a very easy and convenient way to introduce yourself to the lipstick world without having to take a HUGE plunge as far as price goes. I give it my stamp of approval.
And here is the video that I recorded for this review. Hope you enjoy (and watch the Zombie attack at the end! LOL).
